About Ben

About

Ben is a psychologist training to become a clinical neuropsychologist.

Ben is a registered psychologist completing his registrar program in clinical neuropsychology. This means he is working towards endorsement as a clinical neuropsychologist, and his neuropsychology work is carried out under the supervision of a senior clinical neuropsychologist. It is a path that many neuropsychologists take, and it means your assessment has more than one experienced mind behind it.

Ben is drawn to detailed, careful assessment, and to the kind of question where taking time to understand the full picture makes a real difference. He works as a clinical neuropsychology registrar in public mental health on the Gold Coast, and is an honorary neuropsychology fellow at a specialist memory and cognitive disorders clinic in Brisbane. His doctoral research looks at how memory for personal experiences can help in the diagnosis of dementia.

Areas of focus

What Ben works with

  • Dementia and cognitive disorders. Assessment of memory and thinking where dementia or another condition affecting the mind may be involved.
  • Detailed neuropsychological assessment. A particular interest in thorough, methodical assessment, and in explaining clearly what the results do and do not show.

Ben's neuropsychology work is supervised by a senior clinical neuropsychologist, so the findings and recommendations in your report carry that combined experience.

Approach

How Ben works

Ben is unhurried and thorough. An assessment with him is a careful look at how your thinking and memory are working, built around understanding you rather than rushing to a label. He explains what he is doing as he goes, and is clear about what the findings mean in everyday terms.

Because Ben is completing his registrar program, his neuropsychology work is reviewed with his supervisor. For you, that simply means an extra layer of care behind the conclusions you receive.
