Accessibility Everyone should be able to use this site, and reach our care.

We want this website to work for as many people as possible, whatever device you use and however you browse. Here is what we have done, and how to tell us when we fall short.

An ongoing commitment not a one-off

Accessibility is something we keep working on, not a box we tick once.

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the current version of the standard widely used across Australian health and government services. That is a target we are working towards, not a claim that we have reached it, and we welcome being told where we have not got there yet.

What we have built in

How we have tried to make this site usable

  • You can move through the whole site using a keyboard, and a "skip to content" link lets you jump straight past the menu.
  • Where you are on the page is shown with a clear, visible focus outline.
  • Headings are structured in order, so screen readers and assistive technology can navigate the page.
  • Text is set at a comfortable size with strong colour contrast, and the layout adapts to phones, tablets and larger screens.
  • Images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers so it does not get in the way.
  • If you prefer reduced motion, the gentle fade effects are switched off automatically when your device asks for it.
  • We write in plain language and explain clinical terms, so the content is easier to follow.
  • Telehealth appointments by secure video or phone are available if getting to us is difficult.

Being honest about limits

Known limitations

No website is ever perfectly accessible, and parts of this one are still being built. These are the gaps we know about at present.

  • A full manual keyboard and screen-reader audit is scheduled and has not been completed, so barriers we have not yet found may remain.
  • We have not commissioned an independent accessibility audit, and we do not publish a formal conformance report.
  • Some documents and forms may not yet meet every guideline.
  • Our service finder is an automated tool and it will not suit everyone. The phone and email routes below reach a person, and are always available instead.
  • We are still reviewing the text descriptions on every image and diagram for accuracy.

If something does not work for you, that is useful for us to know, and you do not have to use this website to reach us. Call 0452 452 262 or email enquiry at brainandmind.com.au, and we will take your details that way and fix what we can. If you are deaf, or have a hearing or speech impairment, the National Relay Service below also reaches us.
